Cross-play server height limits
BedrockHeightGuard addresses a cross-play administration problem: players connecting through Bedrock do not necessarily share the same usable height range as a Java client in an extended-height world.
The project detects Bedrock players through Floodgate and applies configured limits to movement and building events. The rules can vary by world, with staff feedback and exemptions controlled by configuration and permissions.
What the project does
- Configure minimum and maximum heights per world.
- Apply movement and block-action checks to Bedrock players.
- Provide warnings and staff notifications.
- Use bypass permissions and game-mode filters where appropriate.
Environment and requirements
A compatible Paper/Purpur server in a Geyser/Floodgate environment. Modrinth’s tags include Folia but the description qualifies that support; verify your selected release before using regionized threading.
Getting started
Read the release instructions, configure the intended world ranges and test with both Java and Bedrock clients. Check staff permissions and interactions with teleport or movement plugins before enabling enforcement on a live server.
Scope, limitations and attribution
The plugin enforces a range; it does not expand the Bedrock client’s rendering capabilities. Version-specific limits and cross-play behavior should be verified for the actual server and clients instead of treated as a universal fixed height.
